Odiaxere Tournament 5th and 6th October
A small team had the opportunity to represent EAWF at the 6-a-side Odiaxere tournament on the 5th and 6th of October.
Over the two days the team grew to be a cohesive unit. All games were played in good spirit, and we picked up very few offences – playing fairly and representing the club in the true spirit of walking football.
While we failed to win matches, we did score goals – well done Paul and Steve and while our ever cool and determined captain, Ali, didn’t score, she was the one who assisted in every goal we did score. The goals that were conceded generally came from our mistakes – but while we all made mistakes, the team spirit was supportive and there was no falling out within the team. We showed determination and resilience and always kept up the pressure. We were genuinely a collective as in the group name.
Thanks to Jonathan Syed for giving his time to provide the essential pitch-side advice and feedback and supporting the rookie manager.
As the only mixed team at the tournament, there was some very positive feedback from the other teams.
