Chris Wright, founder of East Algarve Walking Football and President of the Club, has taken a recent sabbatical but is now ready to return to the fold.
Here’s what he has to say:
I have taken a longish sabbatical during which I’ve successfully undergone several medical procedures and, thanks to the superb Portugal SNS health service, I feel fitter than I have for many a long day. Thank you all for your good wishes and emails which have sustained me during the more difficult days.
Having built up my physical and inner strength I now feel confident that it is time to get back into the harness.
Over the past twelve months I have watched as the EAWF family has done great work in supporting a wide range of deserving causes and charities. I hope I can now ease myself back into the fold and support, in some small way, the fantastic commitment of so many willing volunteers.
As Walking Football in the Algarve celebrates its seventh anniversary, we can hopefully look forward to getting back to some sense of normality and once again welcome visiting teams from abroad.
As time marches on, those of us who are septuagenarians, could be looking to the start of WF sessions for the over 70s later this year.
Chris Wright
Nice to hear Chris, all the very best to you, hopefully see you at the usual WF Tournaments ????????⚽️⚽️????????
