The football pitch in Casével has hosted five games of walking football this year, with interest growing each session. We have kept the format the same with two teams of 5-a-side and mixed ages ranging from 8 to 63. The over 50s are still shy to come forward; however, we are gaining interest with three players in this category. The referee was Mike from the Olhão East Algarve Walking Football Team.
Castro Verde Câmara have recently finished a lovely extension to the football pitch, with a paved area featuring a pagoda, large table and seating area with surrounding plants and flower beds.
During the months of July and August we have suspended games due to the extreme heat and also the holiday season is in full swing, with local villages hosting many, many weekend-long festivals. Dancing into the early hours has more attraction than a couple of hours of football at this time.
Our next session will be towards the end of September, a decision agreed by all our players and supporters. Date to be advised.
