Two charity updates to let you know about.

First, EAWF received a request from Eve Clifton. Eve received an appeal from a member of the ICAD team (Institute on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies, P.I. – Integrated Response Center in Algarve) on behalf of a 17-year-old boy from the Faro area.

His family faces many challenges, including financial constraints, and he needs clothing and shoes for school. The challenge has been that this young man is needing 3XL clothing, trainers in size 46, and a few other things. The aim is to enable him to return to school with dignity, confidence and help social acceptance from his peers.

The lady from the health service who deals with vulnerable families has been contacting various charities to try and find clothes. The boy is 3XL and size 46 trainer! Obviously he already is a bit of a misfit due to his size but some decent clothing would maybe help his social inclusion.

The clubs charity fund very kindly donated funds towards the purchase or various items of clothing.

Secondly, EAWF received a request from Eve Clifton for toiletries needed at the Women’s Refuge via the Red Cross Faro. The following items were purchased from the club’s charity fund and handed over to Eve:

  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrushes
  • Children’s toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Hair lice treatment/shampoo
  • Shower gel
  • Shampoo and conditioner

The following are also required; please contact Andy Smith, Verner Baird, Steve Johnson or Karen Hamilton if you can donate any of the items below:

  • Children’s clothing especially boys clothing and shoes for children aged 3-16 years
  • Women’s boots, trainers and flat shoes suitable for Autumn/Winter
  • Very good condition and practical Autumn/Winter clothing as ladies who pass through normally arrive with just the clothes they are wearing
