A fantastic two-day tournament, the Vilamoura 2017 Algarve Cup, was held at Browns Club in Vilamoura on October 6th and 7th October 2017. Twenty teams entered from both the UK and the Algarve, including a large number of teams from Scotland.

We will be presenting a cheque for €500 from the Brian Kilcline evening to the kids football section of Casa Benfica (Tavira) at our usual venue in Tavira on Saturday 21st october, 3 pm. We might also be playing WF against the youngsters which could be an eye opener.

We have a touring team from Hull visiting in November and we propose playing two friendly mini tournaments, both in Olhao, on Tuesday 7th and Friday 10th November and finished by lunchtime.
We need two teams for each day and we will play a round robin format and be finished by lunchtime; it is open to all players, very relaxed, and maybe an opportunity for players who have not played in tournaments before?

Tuesday 10th October will see the start of our over 60s sessions at the usual venue in Olhao. This is strictly for the over 60s (no exceptions) and hopefully will allow for a more relaxed session without interference from the 50-60 year old young ‘uns.
Normal time/venue etc, but on a Tuesday!

This year’s Xmas Dinner will be held at the Churrasqueira O Franguinho on Thursday December 7th. The venue is the same as last year, and again we have an all-inclusive deal at €20 per head including drinks.
Details on times and how to book/buy tickets will be forthcoming, but keep the evening free…….
Following consultation with various members of the group, and taking into account the newly released FA Laws of Walking Football, we now have our own definitive set of Laws for use at our sessions in Olhao and Tavira. These will come into force from October 1st

We now have an events page on our website, where you will find details on all the upcoming social activities and tournaments. This can be found here.
We are also looking into starting a new session in Olhao on Tuesdays beginning in October. This will be strictly for the over 60s (following our normal WF rules with minimal contact). Hopefully this will give players who feel our normal Thursday sessions are a little “competitive” a chance to enjoy themselves with even less chance of injury etc.
We are also looking at starting a running football session for those interested, which will start in October at Tavira (likely on a Wednesday). Additionally, how about a game of walking cricket? To celebrate our 3-year anniversary we are arranging an afternoon of cricket/football/picnics/what have you at Tavira after our normal Monday WF session in late September.
