A message of thanks from Chris Wright

“A special ‘thank you’ to everyone who has sent messages of support following my urgent admission to hospital.

My wife and I were having a light lunch whilst watching Bargain Hunt last Thursday when the phone rang interrupting the excitement on TV! It was the Clínica do Plaza in Tavira.

I had several days previously had heart monitor exams as part of a series of tests to try and and discover the reason(s) for my lethargy and general malais. The doctor asked me to visit him ASAP. I replied that I’d pop in later in the afternoon. He replied “no, I mean immediately!” A combination of a very low heartbeat and arrhythmia, that was all over the place, was giving course for concern.

The Tavira Bombeiros (don’t forget to buy a blue bib), with a full cacophony of sirens and lights, whisked me off to Faro Hospital. Twelve hours later I was under the knife and having a pacemaker implanted. I hope to be discharged this afternoon (Saturday).

Obviously the shock of the past few days will mean a change of lifestyle but Christine and I are extremely grateful for the love and friendship of so many people that has been of great solace.”

Get well soon Chris, from all at East Algarve Walking Football.
