For those who are missing their fix of the East Algarve Magazine the April edition is now available online at https://issuu.com/eastalgarvemag/docs/apr20web
These are very worrying times for us all and our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones wherever they may be in the world. I was humbled to hear from Mark Fox, that those that were going to the Mallorca WF Tournament have generously donated their refund deposits towards an EAWF/EAFC ‘fighting fund’ being organised by Foxy to support the communities in Olhão and Tavira. Contact has been made with the Red Cross in Tavira and a local community action group in Olhão.
With the current global situation with Covid-19, we as EAWF and EAFC would like to give something back (#GIVESOMETHINGBACK) to our local communities in the East Algarve and help some small businesses that are very close to our hearts but who must be struggling at the moment.
As you can imagine we really have no idea whether any of the upcoming tournaments/trips/visits will be going ahead in the near future.
A poster aimed at helping people to look after their neighbours if they are self-isolating is available from EAWF to be posted on noticeboards, in shops and in cafes.

Apologies for the bombardment of notices, but as you can imagine this is a fairly fluid environment right now. EAWF has decided to suspend all sessions at both Olhao and Tavira in line with the closure of all sports facilities by both Tavira and Olhao Camaras.

The second annual East Algarve Walking Football Golf Day took place recently at the superbly appointed Benamor Course at Conceição de Tavira.
The first training day will be held on Saturday February 1st 2020, at Almofariz da Vila in Moncarapacho (click here to see a map) from 2.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
This is available free for all regular players, but numbers are limited to 10 for the session.
Roy Clark and Jonathan Syed were invited to Centro de Saude in Tavira to discuss with a Nurse in the Diabetes Team how best the money raised to date could be spent.
There are four children with diabetes who have been identified as being in need of extra equipment to help them manage their diabetes better. All of those identified to date come from backgrounds where the funds needed are unavailable to them, but are of sufficient levels of managing their diabetes whereby the extra equipment would be of tremendous value.
At this stage it has been agreed that the Diabetes team will make known to us the exact equipment needed and EAWF will purchase the equipment and this will then be supplied to the young people in question.
The purchase of this equipment is not likely to exceed the total funds raised and further meetings will take place to identify other diabetes-related items that are needed.
The Diabetic Team are extremely grateful for the generosity and offer of help afforded to them.
Many, many thanks to all of you who have helped raised this money; more news will follow in the New Year.
